Location and attractions: We are ideally situated for visits to places of Cultural interest and Natural beauty. The historic town of Dorchester (home to Thomas Hardy) is 7 miles away, as is the harbour town Weymouth (host of the sailing 2012 Olympics). There are several castles within easy reach, such as Corfe Castle, Lulworth Castle and Maiden Castle Hill Fort. The Historic Houses of Athelhampton, Mapperton, Minterne, Wolfeton, and Kingston Lacy are all within a short drive. We are situated within 3 miles of England’s only natural World Heritage Site, the Jurassic Coast, the nearest beach being Ringstead Bay. A ten minute car journey will take you to the iconic Durdle Door, and Lulworth Cove. A bit further and you will be in the Isle of Purbeck, and Kimmeridge Bay (great for surfing), and Worth Matravers (home of the spectacularly eccentric, and old time feeling, Square and Compass Pub, and old deserted coastal quarries and caves) Monkey World, and the world famous Bovington Tank Museum are ten minutes away by car. There are plenty of places to eat locally to cater for any taste whether it’s a quiet country pub like the Blue Vinny at Puddletown and The Granary in Wareham, or freshly caught seafood at The Boat That Rocked.
